The Templar were formed into a distinct order a full generation before any Roman papal endorsements/benefits etc. At peak, the Order had approximately 20,000 members. barony from Mary Queen of Scots in 1560 followed by the withdrawal and reformation of the Templars under David Seton as Knights Templar of St. Anthony. The Templar were not formed by any of the Roman church.
